Brown sugar cocktail wieners are a different take on your traditional cocktail wiener appetizer. Â Cocktail wieners, often known by the brand Lil’ Smokies have been a staple of game day potlucks for as long as I can remember seeing a table full of food at a party.
A few years back I had some friends over for opening day of the NFL and I had a friend that brought over bacon wrapped smokies that were cooked in brown sugar. Â This is the first time I have tried to make them. Â I have, however, often thought about them. Â I am a big fan of potluck parties. Â Good times are always to be had when you get a group of people together with a table full of food.
These delicious little meat hunks are popular.  Cocktail wieners are prepared for parties in multiple ways.  Soaked in barbecue sauce, wrapped in bacon or even stuffed inside a jalapeño.  My six year old will eat none of these.  He loves these brown sugar cocktail wieners.
There are a few variables you can use in this recipe. Â I chose to use the cheese stuffed wieners but you can use regular as well. Â You can also experiment with different flavors of bacon. Â Maple bacon goes very well with the sweetness of brown sugar.
