Philly cheesesteak bake is beef, onion, peppers, garlic and provolone cheese drizzled with sriracha.  It’s sort of a hotdish or casserole like a tater tot hot dish, but unlike regular casseroles it doesn’t have any pasta in it.
This is a recipe that you can cook in one pot. Â I browned the burger, cooked the vegetables and baked this all in the same cast iron dutch oven. Â You could pretty easily use a regular cake pan or baking dish for this recipe. Â I will try this at a campsite this summer as well. Â I suspect it will translate pretty well to either a grill or an open fire.
Honestly, I’m not sure what I will modify about this in the future. Â It’s pretty good just as it is. Â I may try some steak or roast beef rather than ground beef. Â A traditional philly uses thin sliced beefsteak rather than ground beef so I will probably start there. Â Otherwise, it’s really only missing the hoagie. Â Perhaps puts some bread dough chunks in before baking will fill this out and make it a little more traditional.
This philly cheesesteak bake was very tasty right out of the gate the first time though. Â We didn’t have any leftovers.
