Hotdish Tater Tot Casserole. Â It may be called a hot dish or it may be called a casserole. Â I think that is highly dependent on what part of the country you live in. Â This is one of those recipes that I have been eating since I was a child. Â It’s relatively quick and easy to put together and can easily be enough to feed your whole family.
I am sure that there are numerous recipes out there for hotdish tater tot casserole, but this is how it was always made when I was a kid. Â This is frequently made with cream of mushroom soup but I am not a huge mushroom fan. Â Therefor, I substitute cream of chicken soup. Â I don’t believe that most recipes use Velveeta in them but that has always been something that I put in this and Tuna Hotdish. Â The way that cheese melts is second to none.
This is another recipe that I am excited to try at a campsite this coming summer. Â I think cooking it in a dutch oven (like I did here), over a campfire will work pretty well. Â I will have to find the right temperature zone on a fire as to not overcook it or burn it to the bottom of the pan.
